A Power Plant Operator
A Power Plant Operator controls, monitors, and maintains the equipment used to generate electricity. The operator regulates generator output, monitors instruments and equipment, starts and stops generating equipment, responds to abnormal conditions, records operating information, and communicates with other personnel and system operators. This is not simply a mechanical job. The operator is a continuous human control and information layer between the generating equipment and the larger electrical system.
Book VII Persona
THE POWER CONTROL ADVOCATE In Premortal Dawn, humanity doesn't simply abandon old power plants when newer energy systems appear. Old power infrastructure becomes research infrastructure. Power plants become enormous scientific complexes supporting experimental work in areas such as: genetics cloning stem-cell research robotics genetic agriculture electromagnetic experimentation advanced energy research experimental propulsion other technologies capable of changing civilization And because Premortal Dawn is willing to explore technological territory that our world might consider morally or scientifically unacceptable, those facilities require something beyond ordinary plant operation. They require a responder.

the correspondent
When several laboratories report problems at once, how do you determine which information requires immediate action?
How do you translate what scientists are reporting into instructions that power operators can actually act upon?
When the information coming from a research facility is incomplete, how do you decide whether to intervene?
the supervisor
Before approving an experiment, what do you need to know about the power and containment systems supporting it?
How do you supervise scientists without interfering with the scientific work itself?
What warning signs tell you that an experiment has become more dangerous than its researchers realize?
the warning
When an experiment begins behaving outside its expected parameters, what is the first thing you look for?
How do you determine whether an anomaly requires observation, isolation, or immediate shutdown?
When scientists insist they can still control an experiment, what evidence makes you override them
the takeover
When you take control of a facility during an emergency, how do you decide which systems remain powered and which must be isolated?
How do you maintain power to essential systems while removing power from the experiment causing the danger?
What information must reach you before you are willing to return control of the facility to its research team?
the containment
How do you contain one dangerous experiment without sacrificing the rest of the research facility?
When containment succeeds, how do you determine whether the facility is actually safe or merely stable for the moment?
What responsibilities remain after the immediate danger has been contained?
the respondent team
What did your team have to accomplish that day to bring the facility back under control?
How did each member of the Respondent Team contribute to the response?
Years later, what do you remember most about the day your team saved the facility—and possibly the world?
